Our Business Values
Locally owned & operated
The Mi’gmaq Star is a proudly Mi’gmaq owned and operated business that values customer service, hospitality and community responsibility. Open since November 2012, the Star aims to provide top notch service to each customer who walks through the door
Mi’gmaq First Nation
Located in the Mi’gmaq Community of Listuguj, near Pointe-a-la-Croix, Quebec, our unique Mi’gmaq identity plays a big role in our operation. From the artwork that hangs on the walls, the humour that is shared with our patrons, and the hospitable environment that welcomes customers of all languages and backgrounds, the Mi’gmaq Star reflects Mi’gmaq qualities of living and inclusivity.
Bilingual Service & Hospitality
At the Mi’gmaq Star, the customer comes first. From the walk-in customer looking for cold beverages – to the members of our Star Players Club, each and every visitor is treated with respect, dignity and warmth by our experienced bilingual staff. Our events often feature tasty food from local providers including chicken wings, pizza, meatballs and more. Freshly popped popcorn is a staple at the Star!
Responsible Gaming
Our goal is to advocate the responsible use of our gaming facility; to reduce the potential for harm from gaming involvement and to promote the necessary services available to our patrons with gambling problems. In order to implement this goal, The Mi’gmaq Star will:
- Create an overall quality entertainment experience for our customers in a socially responsible manner.
- Take steps to alert our customers and employees to the gambling assistance programs offered, and where they may obtain assistance.
- Inform employees of how to be responsive to the issue of problematic gambling.
- Incorporate into the Mi’gmaq Star’s products and promotional materials, where reasonable and appropriate, statements providing Responsible Gaming messages.
